Free yourself

Some of my work has manifested from a journey within. Taking a deep look at myself, and simply asking the questions I feared the most. But even more critically answering those questions honestly. This piece stems from that.

This piece is all about inner reflection. I use the image of an elderly woman. Her image represents to me a knowledge or wisdom that was there before me. When I look at her, all I see in her eyes is the reflection, reminding me that I must free myself.

King Am I

A deep look at self evolved into a deep look into history, my people and culture. I started looking back as far as I could imagine and further. I learned what I wasn’t taught. I admired in awed at the diversity, the beauty and science that existed. I endeavor to mix aesthetically the past, and the present. Mix the symbols that mattered with us back, then include them into our lives right now. And so it birthed this collection.

Negus The Wadjet within

Symbols are only placeholders. They serve as reminders for what is often asleep deep within us.

Dancing with the ancestors

I fell in love with my culture. The things I was taught to fear and hate, I suddenly saw the beauty in them. I understood them in a different way than previous.
